The Radio Aire breakfast show team hosted the Christmas event alongside the cast of Leeds White Rose Theatre’s pantomime, Snow White, including Geordie Shore’s Scotty T, well-loved comedian Jimmy Cricket and Snow White, and stars of Emmerdale including Michelle Hardwick, Amy Walsh and Gemma Atkinson.
Leeds United’s Tyler Denton and Ronaldo Vieira were also there to give away a signed shirt and meet fans at the Merrion Centre’s official Leeds United shop.
Merrion Centre’s expanding list of food and drink tenants also donated some fantastic prizes including free meals at Smoke Barbeque and Marvin’s Pizza Parlour, vouchers for money off food at My Thai and free food and drink from Sing Kee.
The Merrion Centre is already forging ahead with the next stage of its Christmas celebrations and from next week (19th November) Santa will be visiting the centre and taking up residence in his unique, sparkly, Christmas bauble grotto ready to meet children and hear their Christmas wish-lists!
Children can be doubly-sure that their Christmas wish-lists will reach Santa as the Merrion Centre is also setting up a special Christmas post-office for little ones to send on their present lists directly to the North Pole.
Helen Green, Associate Director of Town Centre Securities, the owner of the Merrion Centre, said: “It was a fantastic evening and we were delighted to have so many visitors come and join in the fun. We want to thank Scotty T and the stars of Snow White, Emmerdale and the Leeds United Players for helping us make sure our light switch on a huge success.
“We had visitors of all ages joining us to take part in the festivities and all of the different shops and restaurants came together to ensure there was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the whole centre.
“We’ve still got a few weeks until Christmas and we’re planning lots more activity so we’re looking forward to welcoming the crowds in the lead up to the biggest day of the year!”
