TCS Supports 'Cones Visit' to Leeds Children's Hospital
Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS), has joined forces with the charity that supports Leeds Children’s Hospital, Leeds Cares, and local children’s author Chris Madeley.
‘The Cones Books’ – stories that children love to hear & read
Using colourful Cones characters, the publication, which was launched at the start of the pandemic, aims to help children who may have to go to hospital to understand the process and what they can expect when they get there.
Chris Madeley, author of ‘the Cones’ series of children’s books, worked with the Leeds-based children’s charity and TCS to enable her to bring her story, Cones Visit the Children’s Hospital, to life and launch the book at the start of the pandemic. Using colourful Cones characters, the publication aims to help children who may have to go to hospital to understand the process and what they can expect when they get there.
“It was a great pleasure to work with the Charity and the amazing and very dedicated staff at the Children’s Hospital. They were most co-operative and patient in helping me conduct research for the book, providing facts and locations so that children visiting the hospital, both as in patients and out, will feel confident and secure they are going to be well looked after.
“I was also delighted that the hospital’s Royal Patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex not only agreed to appear in the book, but also sent words of encouragement as part of the story.
“I am so pleased to have had such support of all my books from many leading companies and organisations and to have had Edward Ziff and the team at TCS support me on this occasion was very pleasing indeed.”
Commenting on the partnership, Head of Corporate Social Responsibilities for TCS, Charlotte-Daisy Leeming said:
“Each of us will have our own stories about how the NHS has been there for us in time of need, with my own family experiencing first-hand having to take a child on a significant journey through the hospital system.
“By supporting Chris and Leeds Hospitals Charity, we are confident that this initiative will go some way to comfort families and explain the process to children in an engaging manner whilst starting their journey at Leeds Children’s Hospital”.
The books can be purchased online, at Amazon and all good bookshops, with a number of books now also available in different languages.
