The area incorporates Merrion Way, Wade Lane, Woodhouse Lane and Merrion Street and is adjacent to the 13,500 capacity first direct arena (which plays host to a variety of high profile concerts, shows, corporate and sporting events).
This £17m project was started in 2012 to capitalise on the opening of the arena, with the northern side of the centre initially being completely transformed into a food and leisure hub. Following the success of this re-development, additional brands were attracted to becoming part of the Arena Quarter at other external facing locations around the Merrion Centre scheme
The complete transformation of the multi-storey CitiPark car park and launch of the 134 bedroom ibis Styles Leeds City Centre Arena Hotel has ensured that the Arena Quarter has become a staple fixture on the Leeds landscape.
